Last week it was pointed out to me in a comment that this diet pattern is not recommended for certain groups of people.
I agree wholeheartedly. I am a 30 year old woman, with no existing medical conditions and a healthy heart and bloodwork. I am very fortunate to be in such good health.
I am not a doctor, I cannot advise you either for or against this diet patten - this diary is solely intended to record MY experiences with Intermittent Fasting for people who might be interested in hearing about them.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the standard disclaimer is: Everyone should seek medical approval before commencing any diet or fitness programme.
So.
That's been said now.
This is my third week at 16:8. I'm still aiming at around 1650 calories/day and 40p/30c/30f macros (aiming being the operative word here ;)).
Monday | Sick. Sick. Sick as a DOG. In fact, I was sicker than the dog. Either one of them. You know I said I wanted to "feast" in last week's diary? Feast I did.... Still I guess it's one way to lose a load of water weight and keep your calories low for a day.... Still, that moment where you have to decide between puking or pooping... Yeah, that's not my favourite... (TMI? ;) ). |
Sunday | Oh hell no, there isn't enough food in the world to fill this black hole which has taken residence in my stomach... I woke up super late (um, is it me or is there an hour missing from the day somewhere?!) and broke my fast immediately. There was nothing going to stop that from happening...! Today was measurement day.... |
The Week in Numbers
I averaged around 1075 calories a day for Monday - Friday (very low calories Monday and Tuesday because of the sickness). All I found was that towards the end of the week I was ravenous, and I have a bad feeling about the pattern for next week ;)
Just to make myself super clear incase you haven't read my blog before I DO NOT CONDONE LOW CALORIE DIETS. This week was an exception and due to sickness for me. I'm surprised I haven't eaten anyone to be honest.
My monthly measurements showed an overall loss of 10cm from all points of measurement. Again, it's not massive but it is steady!
Summary
I'm still really attracted to the pattern of IF, the ease which it gives my morning routine - the additional time, and actually, the amount of money saved...
It's great for controlling my evening snacking (that after dinner time snack) and the amount of calories eaten in a day.
It's also given me a new appreciation for being "hungry". Before, I was ALWAYS hungry, but now. Now I know what hungry really feels like...!
