The woman at the keyboard!
The short version
A pole addicted fitness magpie.... The slightly longer version? (Go on, you know you want to) I'm Michelle. I'm 35, from the UK but I'm currently living in the North of Italy. I've been "in" to the fitness scene since 2012, when I first realised that my weight had got out of control and it was time to take it back. I weighed around 175Ibs and looked like a middle-aged woman (I was 24). I started my path to fitness by running. I loved it, but as with everything that doesn't "take" me, I lost interest. The fire had already taken though, so instead of running, I started going to the gym and I discovered weight-lifting. I had found my calling, or so I thought. The heavier I lifted, the happier I was, until one day in February 2014, a friend and I decided to bite the bullet and go to a pole session. We'd been meaning to try it for a while, but hadn't had the courage. From that first spin, I was hooked. In 2015 I moved to (at that point) the South of Italy and embarked on the next big adventure of my life. Sadly, along with the adventure came a significant gain in weight (the food was too good and the weather too hot!). Over the years I've lived in and moved around Italy, my weight has fluctuated and I've found it difficult to maintain a good schedule. In 2018 I was (finally) diagnosed as ADHD, and suddenly my life made more sense. 3 years later, I've learnt a lot about the neurodivergent brain that I love having and am ready to step out using my training in psychology and this wonderful platform I've created to help others who might find themselves in a similar spot. I use MFP, feel free to add me @squidgeypaws007 (long story involving WoW, druids & a raiding guild). You can also follow me on Twitter @squidgeypaws and Instagram @squidgeypaws (yeah ok, it's not that long a story. I play WoW, I was a boomkin druid and occasionally a Brewmaster monk (hence the squidgeyness of my paws). I'm the GM of what's trying to be (and once was) a successful raiding guild (before the WoD dry-up) and yes, it does fit in with fitness.....got to be able to roll my face on the keyboard and all that.... There's also a Facebook page for my blog here. Finally, if you like the content here - please support its creation by buying me a beer (or two) here! Like what you see?
