IT'S POLE NIGHT PEOPLES!!


When I asked Simon what day it was earlier, he simply replied "it's pole night". Nuff said!

Just a short one today my dear peeps, I have some stretching to do if the "spin with no name" is to be accomplished tonight!

All I'm going to share with you this evening is that I have finally managed to create an email subscription feed - my lovely ramblings straight to your email inbox! What better way to get crazy cat lady delivered straight into your lives!?

It was Monday today.

Do you know how I know that?

It was nothing to do with the calendar, or the start of the working week. Oh no. Today was Monday in every sense of the word.

As I reached into my fridge today the hinge broke. No big deal right? Except that the fridge door has to weigh a good 20kg and I was now holding the door in my left hand and my breakfast (blueberries, a yoghurt and the milk for my protein shake) in my right hand.

It's daily I thank weight training for making my life easier ;) (yes, things like this happen on a daily occurance, you get used to it). After juggling the fridge door (which I might add had a further 4 pints of milk, several packets of cheese, some chillis and a litre of apple juice in it) I managed to wiggle it back onto the hinge, all the while desperately trying not to drop my breakfast.

It was a hard decision.....do I drop the breakfast or the door? The counter is too far away for me to put the food down, but oh, the door is balanced just so against my shoulder...I chose to drop neither and did a trick worthy of a master magician.

After I left the fridge alone, very carefully replacing what I hadn't eaten I walked to work. Naturally I was late.

I got an email titled "Your Mother-in-law" which is always cause for concern and was informed by someone else that I'm on a trip next week. Ooops. Had forgotten that.

Of course the wind drove everyone crazy and there were kids running around like feral cats on a full moon, zig-zagging and practically climbing the walls. Just another day.

To top it all off it was "uppers" day. I have to admit at this point I have a varied relationship with uppers. As you're trying to bench those last two reps it's like your head is going to explode. Once you've re-racked you could take on the world!

There were some (what I can only describe as) children doing some sort of bizarre initiation ceremony involving the barbells in several weights and bopping up and down in time with each other. I can only assume they were doing calf raises. What I couldn't work out is how the 15kg barbell came into it.

The gym was packed. There was an amazing looking woman there, who is one of my gym-idols! She just looks great and lifts like a beast. Always motivating :D

We lift like beasts to look like foxes, oooh yea.

Tom also decided that I needed to man up. So I got a honorary penis for the session. I walked with a swagger and made good use of the 17.5kg dumbells. I was happy.

That is, I was happy until we decided to do some HIIT. I thought it would be "fun" to subject Tom to Sophie's HIIT pyramid....

I still ache. And my lungs hurt. Thanks Sophie :p


Anyway, in the shower after the gym I discovered that I've swapped the Zombie shuffle for the Zombie grab. You know the one, where your arms won't come above chest level.

Given I'm still bending like an old lady the zombie grab should be fun instilling "fear" into my class tomorrow. Ha. As if. Apparently the thought of me being scary is funny to them. I'll have to do my Yoda impression. That will get them.

Anyway, short and sweet today. I'm starving. I'll leave you with this though.

So...today was legs day :D Whoop.

When I got home I looked at Simon and said...

And he said "aren't we supposed to do some cardio today?"
So I responded...

He even suggested we skip legs day...

So I explained the rules of legs day

And as I left the gym...

But it had started after the deadlifts and was recognisable now as I walked across the car park....

Climbing up the stairs to the flat....

And this is what I'll be like tomorrow at our boot sale event!

So what was today's adventure I can hear you saying?

Well everybody, today I tried ballet! I never took ballet lessons as a child - they appeared to be reserved for the skinny, rich, popular girls that I didn't seem to fit in to at primary school. Mostly because I was an awkward lump. Ah, not much changes does it ;) Well, at least I'm not socially awkward anymore (shush you people that know me. Don't dispel my illusions....I'm happy with the silences....).

So lets start today with our general updates:

What did we try today?
Today we decided that rock climbing was going to be our goal as something new. I feel it's about time to confess that I'm actually a little jittery around heights. I don't think that's an irrational fear - it's adaptive, cmon, surely some caution around high things is common sense...

As it turns out, so is Tash. I got a call this morning saying that she'd lost the money she was going to use to pay for the session....ooops, I paid on booking sis - no backing out now *laugh*

Amber has done rock climbing before, so when she left Crawley earlier she was still brain storming what she could do for her challenge...we'll have to see what she came up with ;)

So, anyway, rock climbing. I've wanted to go rock climbing for quite a while now but have never had the guts to book a session. This challenge gave me a perfect excuse to do so!

After doing some research I can see that there are some great health benefits to rock climbing! Check out this site, or this one and definitely this one if you need more information on what rock climbing can do for your workout routine!!

So we booked through High Sports at K2 Crawley yesterday and turned up at around 12:30pm and prepped for our session - the harnesses were a little alarming, but James (our instructor for the session) patiently explained how they fitted on and where to put everything (there are so many holes.....!!).

After a few minutes and doing the signature of certain death (you know the one - when they hand you the piece of paper it was time to become acquainted with the walls....

James took us through the safety (don't walk under other people's lines - see I remember!) and then explained that we were attached to him and he'd help us down. At this point I looked him up and down and wondered whether I'd actually lift him off of the floor when I was coming down....he didn't look like he weighed more than me! I could just picture the see-saw motion of me and James stuck in an eternal struggle to reach the floor....

Turns out he was fine. Apparently though he does have to plug himself into the floor when slightly heavier people come climbing - is it bad that at that point I was just glad he hadn't attached himself to the floor?!!

Getting to the middle of the walls was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. The last wall I even touched the top xD That's progress for you. Although, at the top I made the mistake of looking down. Ooops. That's the moment when the "oh crap, what am I doing? I'M GOING TO DIE" kicks in - how am I going to get down? That's so far. Um. Drop and roll? NO NO DROP AND ROLL. Never. Look. Down.

We tackled 4 walls in total and O...M...G, my forearms (and my butt muscle that was pulled in the multiple handstand incidences). What a workout. If you're looking for a workout that combines endurance and resistance and fun you NEED to try rock climbing!! I am officially hooked and planning on going again next week!

Our instructor James was upbeat and really, really supportive of both me and Tash when it came to declaring that we were scared of heights. He even complimented us a lot on progressing and made a big deal of the steps we took - spot on!! As you can see in the video he allowed us to try out going up and abseiling down and made no comment on what must have looked really silly!

I'm so glad I finally found the courage to book this - it's something everyone should try at least once in my opinion.

After the rock climbing we went for a short walk around the gorgeous Tilgate Lake, which was beautifully sunny (the weather, not the lake...) and then into town for some shopping and a coffee courtesy of Amber. Great training session. We definitely need more coffee though... xD

After all the excitement I came home and logged into WoW. Yes, I play World of Warcraft. Yes, I raid. Yes, I know. A few weeks ago I cancelled raiding to go and see the new Captain America movie. That is when I realised (and one of my lovely friends pointed out) that I had hit ultimate geek status.

In fact, it was when I'd got to fat to bend down and face-tank that I decided it was time to lose weight....thanks WoW ;) Sweating profusely when you're playing should be reserved for those tricky "YES WE'RE GOING TO DOWN THE BOSS" moments and not just when you're walking about the nearest town....

Anyway, I was talking to one of my friends (who dropped a couple of comments about my hand-standing abilities....git) when I got the comment "well, handstands can't be that hard can they". Well. I've told him to go away and film himself trying. I'll post up the footage if I get any ;)

I usually try and blog about my ordeal, I mean, efforts to train for the Trailwalker event, but I think...I *think* I might just punch a computer screen if I don't get this out.

So I've been trying to ad Google ad-sense to this blog for a few days now, you know, thinking that it'll produce extra revenue for the team. I filled in my app, waited and have just been told that I have another account associated to my google ad-sense. Righto. Simples, log in and change the association you have with the account. Ha. So I follow the link, but low-and-behold, I've forgotten my password. So I elect to email a recovery password to another email address. I go to sign in and the password isn't being accepted there. Excellent. So I fill in the recovery details and try to log into the final email account. The one I use for everything. Password not recognised. Of course it isn't, I only use it every day....Head is about to explode. What I initially thought would take 10 minutes has now been a 45 minute ordeal, with a lot of desk banging, bad language and tears. So I go to recover my most used email address - oh, look, it's linked to the email address I originally tried using....forget that one, lets set up another recovery. Fill in all my details? Ok....I'll do that. 10 minutes later after writing what feels like my LIFE STORY I click "accept". I fill in the anti-robot stuff (yes, IT WAS CORRECT DAMMIT COMPUTER JUST DO WHAT I WANT YOU TO) and finally I can feel how close I am to actually having email again. Final page loads up...."we'll let you know within 24 hours if you've supplied enough information to be allowed a reset code".

I think I can feel my brain liquidising in my head. Oh no, it really is....it's coming out of my nose...
