Since then, recovery has been slow on the shoulder but we got there. We got to our happy place.
Eventually the time came when I went to put the pole up in my new home. BOOM, too short. The pole. Was. Too. Short.
Really.
So, a slightly panicked search began for the correct extension. It took about an hour, most places didn't stock the stainless steel, but in the end we found somewhere.
10-15 days delivery. Ouch. Whelp, since I was desperate to get poling, we went ahead and ordered from this shop. 5 days pass, not even a confirmation email. I email the company but wait patiently, because they stated 10+ days. Another 5 days pass. Damn, something doesn't smell right. So I went to email them again, a follow up, and in checking PayPal for the reference number we notice it's been refunded. The sum is refunded. Refunded. No pole extension is coming (and I might add, no email notifying us of this, but that's another story).
So, seeing my desperation, my lovely partner searches again, this time coming across a rather hopeful looking French online shop (neither of us speak French). We navigate to the extensions, select the correct size and place an order. He's got his first names and surnames mixed up, but it looks like we suceeded.
Now to wait.
5 days pass and a package arrives. A suspiciously pole shaped package. I don't want to get excited, but it looks like it's time to pole again! That night I start feeling poorly.
The next day I'm in bed with the flu. Really. Just. Really.
3 days later aaaaaaaand......
Naturally there's a catch. Even bending down to pick something up makes me have a coughing fit worthy of a 20 minute ab workout.
I mean, how many calories does "coughing your lungs up" actually burn? I don't feel like I'll ever need another core workout in my life.
So now, I'm sat in front of my PC alternating between shivering and what feels like trying to remove my lungs from my body, desperately tempted to try and do "something" on the pole. Like. Just a little.......couldn't hurt, right?
One little spin later and my shoulder muscles have stopped responding.
I think it's time to go and get a Lemsip ;)
The take away message?
1. Don't get the flu. No. Really....
2. Be careful with whom you shop online
3. Always. Always. Warm up!
