"I am 36 years old and I suffered an injury that was misdiagnosed that lead to a series of unfortunate events, culminating in a back injury that the specialist I saw said “Should leave me unable to walk at all”. Daily I face permanent back and sciatic pain some caused by nerve damage, but my biggest issue is a knee that constantly dislocates, causing me to not be able to run anymore, which lead to a massive weight gain. I made the choice to not be determined by my injury/pain issues and I am fighting hard for the body I had once before! I was never small, but I was super fit and extremely strong and so very happy. It wasn’t uncommon for me to workout at a high physical level for 3 hours a day……just for the fun of it! I have recently recognised the fact the loss of mobility caused me to become depressed. NOW….I am making every effort to recognise that and make the changes I need, to regain control of myself and create my happy healthy life again. My fitness goal/dream is to get back to running, even if it’s only on a treadmill."
Suzanne fights to keep going. When I approached her about sharing her photo and her story, at first she was very nervous, but decided that she'd never go forward if she didn't "push out of her comfort zone" telling me that "we don't grow as people unless we challenge ourselves".
Sums it up perfectly!!
I think she's my new hero! :)
