Coke and Milk.....is that my stomach!!?

Picture
Back when you thought fizzy drinks only rotted your teeth....they were the good days....

./mounts soapbox

So much for only thinking that fizzy-pop rots your teeth...I remember the warnings from my parents "Don't drink too much of that stuff, it'll rot your teeth" - I'm sure we've all heard similar warnings. We've all seen what coke does to a dirty penny, we've heard the stories about Coke being used to wash blood from the street after an accident (which is apparently a phallacy.....being so acidic you can see where those stories come from) and a google search on the uses of Coke reveals some very interesting things.

I've even taught kids and done the demonstrations about what Coke and like drinks DO to things around them - the pure acidic nature of their product, the fact that they have to add chemicals just to make the amount of sugar they use dissolve...

Yet it still took me 20 odd years to stop drinking the stuff. It's just fizzy, sugary goodness. But, like any convert I now preach for the other side. Yes, it's sugary goodness but golly, does it have some messed up properties. You may as well just drink vinegar and be done with it.

Just yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine about Coke - apparently he drinks a litre of diet coke a day. Another (unnamed) friend also drinks well into a litre, if not more, a day and I have been going on FOR AGES about drinking these types of things in moderation. Well, this post is for you guys....

As pointed out by Distractify in this article  Coke is so acidic it denatures proteins. Now, I'm not saying you're going to turn into goo from drinking the stuff, but just pause for a moment and *think* about what that stuff is doing to your insides.

Don't get me wrong, I still drink the occasional can of Coke or Pepsi but drinking it in huge quantities after seeing that video.....ewwww!!
